While the standard version of the R 68 had a conventional exhaust installed in a lower position, the raised exhaust version was already available back then as a BMW Motorrad accessory.
In 1951, the BMW R 68 was presented at the International Bicycle and Motorcycle Fair IFMA in Frankfurt with a typical raised 2-in-1 exhaust, just like the one used for racing by BMW Motorrad legend Georg “Schorsch” Meier. The history of BMW Motorrad is also rooted in the Scrambler concept. The Scrambler comes standard with Automatic Stability Control plus ride modes for dry or wet conditions to help give you confidence in any conditions. The power is managed by a crisp six-speed transmission and is routed to the rear wheel through a shaft drive system. With a displacement of 1,170 cubic centimeters, the engine develops 109 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 85 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm and provides immediate response and thrust from low rpm.
